The web did indeed win...

Even if you think you made up your mind about Electron years ago, I suggest watching the entire video and considering whether this crusade against more accessible, more frequently updated (and often more performant) desktop software still makes sense in 2025.

There are 3 points:

  1. I am glad that some of the Apple die-hards are finally getting to see what the web is actually capable of and hopefully this means more adoption of web technologies
  2. This is also very much possible on the Mac because of how insane the M-processors are.
  3. The chrome team indeed works its butt off to make sure performance is eked out in every platform.

This is yet another reason why the iPad OS really needs to make more of the web come alive. =(

Don't forget that John Siracusa was on to this when he discussed rendering and scrolling was way smoother in WebKit compared to AppKit
