iOS 18.2 and Mac OS 15.2 finally support link highlights on Safari

In addition to the new backgrounds, Safari now supports linking to text highlights on web pages. The idea here is that you can select text on any web page, tap ‘Copy Link with Highlight’, and share the copied link so that anyone opening it will immediately be shown the specific text you highlighted in yellow on that web page. It’s a small but amazing functionality for any kind of work that relies on referencing things from the web.

Chrome has long supported this feature and so have chromium based browsers. The really delightful little touch is that if you share this on iMessage, it actually features a nice quote preview that’s just /chef’s kiss
